This life-size bronze figure of Chris Hani was created in 2016 for the National Heritage Foundation’s Long March to Freedom project. Hani was an anti-apartheid activist, revolutionary politician and senior commander of uMkhonto we Sizwe. The sculpture places his legacy within a larger public procession of South African historical figures, using monumentality to connect individual biography with the country’s liberation history.
