This life-size bronze figure of Fidel Castro, shown walking with a flag, was a collaborative figure by André Prinsloo and fellow sculptor in 2016 for the National Heritage Foundation's Long March to Freedom project. The project is a monumental procession of life-size bronze statues representing the South African journey to freedom, and this work places Castro within that broader historical narrative.
