This 1.9-metre memorial statue of Mike Nyati was commissioned for installation in the Eastern Cape in 2021. Rather than presenting the subject only as a head or bust, the larger figure gives the memorial a strong public and spatial presence. The work demonstrates Prinsloo’s move between intimate portrait commissions and life-size or larger commemorative sculpture.
