This one-metre bronze figure of Nelson Mandela was commissioned for the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Houghton. Mandela is shown holding a newspaper, an everyday gesture that brings a quiet, human quality to a portrait of one of South Africa's most recognisable public figures. The work, created in 2020 for Madiba's Houghton residence converted into a boutique hotel, draws on Prinsloo's monumental 9-metre Mandela at the Union Buildings while adapting the likeness to an intimate, indoor scale.
