This private-client portrait bust of Nelson Mandela is based on André Prinsloo’s monumental 9-metre figure at the Union Buildings. The smaller format brings the public icon into a more intimate setting while retaining the recognisable character of the larger monument. It forms part of Prinsloo’s continuing engagement with Mandela’s image across monumental, institutional and private commissions.
